Mepilex Border AG Dressing 395300 10cm x 10cm Single

Description:

Wound dressing with Safetac silicone adhesive. Mepilex Border Ag dressing is indicated for the management of exuding wounds such as leg and foot ulcers, pressure ulcers, traumatic and surgical wounds, superficial and partial thickness burns. Mepilex Border Ag can also be used under compression bandaging. Silver sulfate present in the dressing helps reduce microbial colonization on the dressing.

Directions for Use:

1. Cleanse the wound with saline solution or water according to standard  clinical practice.
2. Dry the surrounding skin thoroughly.
3. Remove the release films and apply the adherent side to the wound. Do not stretch.
4. For best results, Mepilex Border Ag’s wound pad should overlap the wound edges by at least 2 cm. 

Mepilex Border Ag consists of:

A Safetac® soft silicone wound contact layer, an absorbent polyurethane foam pad containing a silver compound and activated carbon, a layer with super absorbent polyacrylate fibres, a non woven and a vapour permeable waterproof film. 
Mepilex Border Ag contains 1.2 mg/cm2 silver.

Contraindications & Cautions:

• Do not use on patients with a known sensitivity to silver or any other contents of the dressing.
• Clinicians/ healthcare professionals should be aware that there are very limited data on prolonged and repeated use of silver containing dressings, particularly in children and neonates.
• Mepilex Border Ag may cause transient discoloration of the wound bed and surrounding skin. Frequent or prolonged use of this product may result in permanent discoloration of skin.
• In the event of clinical infection Mepilex Border Ag does not replace the need for systemic therapy or other adequate infection treatment.
• Prior to commencing radiation therapy remove Mepilex Border Ag if product is present in the treatment area. A new dressing can be applied following treatment.
• Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements, e.g. electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG).
• Do not use Mepilex Border Ag together with oxidising agents such as hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
• Other than saline solution or water, the interaction of cleansing agents in combination with Mepilex Border Ag has not been demonstrated.
• The interaction of Mepilex Border Ag with other topical treatments has not been demonstrated.
• For external use only.
• Do not reuse. If reused performance of the product may deteriorate, cross contamination may occur.
• Sterile. Do not use if inner package is damaged or opened prior to use.
Do not re-sterilise.
• Do not use after expiry date. If the product is used after the expiry date product properties cannot be ensured.
