Overview:
Allevyn Gentle Border is a range of versatile foam dressings to suit multiple wound types.
The range has been designed for people with particularly sensitive or fragile skin. These dressings have a gentle silicone gel adhesive which minimises trauma to the wound at dressing change.
Allevyn layer-action technology helps maintains a moist wound environment.
The dressings are conformable, easy to apply, use and remove.
Dressings are showerproof and have a bacterial barrier.
Allevyn Gentle Border dressings can be used on:
1. Wound management on shallow, granulating wounds, chronic and acute exudative wounds, full and partial thickness wounds including pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, surgical wounds first and second-degree burns, donor sites, skin tears and fungating ulcers.
2. Pressure ulcer prevention on intact skin, including pressure ulcers caused by medical devices, as part of a pressure ulcer prevention protocol.
Directions for use:
Cleanse the wound and select the appropriate dressing size.
Prepare and clean the skin surrounding the wound area by removing excess moisture. Any excess hair should be clipped to ensure close approximation to the wound.
Start to remove the protector material from the dressing and anchor the adhesive side of the dressing to the skin.
Smooth the dressing over the wound removing the remaining protector material and ensure that the dressing is adhered all around the wound.
Allevyn Gentle Border dressings should be inspected frequently, and can be left in place for up to 7 days.
Contraindications & Cautions:
Always read the label, use only as directed.
Do not use ALLEVYN Gentle Border dressing with oxidising agents such as Hypochlorite solutions or hydrogen peroxide, as these can break down the absorbent polyurethane component of the dressing. If reddening or sensitisation occur discontinue use.
